How to Spot the ISS With Your Naked Eye
The ISS is the third brightest object in the night sky (after the Moon and Venus). Because it has vast solar arrays reflecting sunlight, you do not need a telescope or binoculars to see it!
It looks like a brilliant, non-blinking white-gold star moving swiftly and steadily across the sky, taking about 3 to 5 minutes to cross from horizon to horizon. The best viewing windows occur during dusk or dawn twilightβwhen the ground below you is in darkness, but the space station 400 km high is bathed in full direct sunlight!
